CELEBRATING THE CUISINE, ARCHITECTURE & HISTORY OF PUGLIA
2019 is a very special year to travel to Puglia. It's the year Matera receives the distinction of European Capital of Culture, UNESCO.
And the accolades for Puglia keep coming in....The “Lonely Planet” recently rated Puglia a must see and “The Guardian” and “New York Times” are absolutely raving about Puglia, the undiscovered Italy for connoisseurs.
Fun fact! In a beautiful resort in Fasano, Puglia is Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake tied the knot in 2012!
Located in the heel of Italy’s boot, Puglia melds the tranquility of the rustic Italian countryside with luxury and elegance in its culture and architecture. Despite its rich heritage, Puglia remains a haven and one of the least explored regions of Italy, offering a coastline bathed by two crystal blue seas: the Adriatic and the Ionian.
...Nothing is quite as Puglia as the 50 to 60 million olive trees....a carpet of olive trees...
This is the agricultural heartland of Italy, a land where Italy's oldest bread has been made in these wood fired ovens since medieval times, a land so ancient that it cradles the most outstanding example of a troglodyte settlement in the Mediterranean region and first inhabited zone dates back from the Palaeolithic era. The land of 'cucina povera' - the true birth of 'land to table' cuisine, orecchiette pasta, Trulli stone architecture and Primitivo wine.

What Guests Say...
This trip to Portugal was a once in a lifetime experience. Our intimate group of 10 learned more about the cuisine, viticulture, wine-making, history and architecture of Portugal in 11 days than we thought possible.
The trip was meticulously planned and executed by Devaki Das and we would enthusiastically recommend you consider taking one of the future vacation trips with Weave A Thousand Journeys.

There were several once in a lifetime experiences on the Portugal trip. The morning and lunch with the fishermen was a first, for us and them!
The Porto architecture tour with a local architect was energetic, interesting and knowledge packed. The Lisbon/Belém Monastery tour with the historian made the Age of Discovery come alive.
